Showcase Productions, Inc. was the original packager/producer of much of the prime time, live, dramatic, color, 60 minute and 90 minute programming which appeared primarily on NBC during the period between September 1954 and September 1957. The most notable series which Showcase produced and packaged was the acclaimed Producers' Showcase series of 37 90-minute "spectaculars" which generally ran once a month. Showcase also packaged and produced, during this time frame, The Goodyear Playhouse, The Alcoa Theater, The Philco Television Playhouse Showcase (known generally as "Alcoa/Goodyear" since the program sponsors alternated from week to week), and Pontiac Playwrights '56. In addition, Showcase packaged/produced individual programs which ran as part of The Kraft Television Theater (later renamed The Kraft Mystery Theatre), the Lux Video Theatre, Robert Montgomery Presents, and other series. Finally, Showcase packaged/produced The Standard Oil 75th Anniversary Special. Showcase has bought out NBC's rights, title and interest in the Producers' Showcase series, and now is the sole copyright owner and worldwide distributor of this series. As of February 1999, discussions between NBC and Showcase regarding the other programs and series, have not been finalized. Accordingly, this site is devoted exclusively to the Producers' Showcase series; it is anticipated that there will eventually be links from this site to sites for the other series and programs.

Documentary filmmakers, television producers and historians will find the Producers' Showcase series a veritable treasure trove of "the best of the best" from the era, with virtually every single program having a major writers, directors, stars, and musicians.
